iPhone 6s Faulty

I got a contract with Telkom for an iPhone 6s back in November 2015. That was an ordeal in itself.

The phone was faulty. The battery didn't hold a long charge and shut down spontaneously. I let Cresta Telkom and the service centre know about this within the first few weeks of owning the phone. I was told to try resetting the phone and various other troublshooting tactics which I did. Still had issues with the battery.

Took the phone back to Cresta Telkom yet again. I was told they would not replace the phone, but only repair it, which would take several weeks. I could not be without a phone for that long, so tried more of their suggested troubleshooting and used a power bank to keep it going.

Towards the end of last year the phone battery was almost unusable. I searched online and saw that Apple are aware of the problem with these phones and mine has a serial number that is eligible for the replacement plan. Sent a mail to Telkom to say that I was still within the warranty period, but would be away for December and deal with it on my return.

Returned the phone to Cresta yet again a few weeks ago. Spoke to Ifraan and regional manager Gordon. Gordon said that the fact that Apple were aware of the problem was not a mitigating circumstance. And the fact that I alerted Telkom to the issue well within the warranty period was not a mitigating circumstance. Poor attitude from a regional manager.

After much discussion, they agreed to replace the battery. I insissted I would only hand over the phone if the situation was escalated and I would not have to go weeks wihtout a phone, which I use for business. I was assured this would be the case.

That was over two weeks ago. Initially Ifraam stayed in touch, but now does not reply to my mails. Cresta Telkom do not answer calls. Gordon has not returned my call to explain what is going on. I cannot get a status update or an ETA on the phone. Appalling sevice all round.

I phoned the service centre this morning. They gave me the number of the repair centre (which turned out ot be a distribution centre). Apparently the repair technician has only received the phone today, over two weeks after it was booked in. This is exactly why I was hesistant to submit the phone in the first place.

Talkom's service in this instance has been appalling. Customers should not have to phone repair centres to find out what is happening with their phones. No one has taken ownership of this problem.

If I do not receive my repaired phone today, I want to cancel the phone contract and my LTE contract with Telkom, and get a full refund for all phone payments made to date. Telkom can keep their faulty phone.
