My internet has gone down 3 times since September. Although I have a 10 meg contract, when it runs at 3 Meg's I am told to consider myself lucky by the Telkom technicians.
It takes between 8 days and 27 days for Telkom to repair faults.
Yesterday my internet went down and today I am told that it will take about three weeks for a technician to be appointed. This is unacceptable - as any person in the modern world does, I have paid third parties for services that use the Internet that I now cannot use.
Telkom could not care less that it's service keeps going down for weeks at a time while I am paying others for services that I cannot use.
The reason Telkom does not care at all is that it is a monopoly and its customers simply cannot leave and go to the competition - there is no competition. Telkom can therefore treat its customers as they wish with no consequences whatsoever.
The excuse is that the technicians are busy - of course they are busy because all of their customers are in the same boat. There are so many faults that they just cannot get to them.
As there is nothing I can do, I will just wait (again) while Telkom, at its leisure, at some point attends to my fault.
