Internet down for a week and Telkom seems more confused about this than me

I have internet at my house with Telkom as my service provider. I have a 4mb speed line and uncapped internet.

On the 13/07/2017, my internet stopped working. I called the call centre - technical department and was told that the problem may be with my router. On Saturday (15/07/2017) I took my router to a Telkom Direct store and it was tested with my cables. Found out that it works perfectly. I got back home and called the call centre who did the necessary tests and found out that the problem is with the line. A fault had then been logged and I was told that a technicain will come around and attend to it.

On Sunday (16/07/2017), I called and was told that a technicain was assigned to my fault on Saturday but was taken off for no reason. After many calls through the rest of the week (up to 10 per day), a technicain was only assigned to my fault on Wednesday (19/07/2017). During the week, after speaking to countless of technical staff on the call centre, I was only told on the Wednesday that they can escalate my fault log so that a manager can see to it. On Wednesday afternoon, I was told that a technician has gone out and the problem is with the wiring and that all should be repaired that day.

Today is Thursday (20/07/2017), a week later and after 3 calls, I am told that the problem is not with the wiring. I am told that Telkom is doing tests remotely to find the fault and only then a technician will be sent out. All the technical agents at the call centre, during all my calls tell me differect things. They say that they are reading from their pc screen but not one of their feedback corresponds with another, and thats after approximately 40+ calls. Feels like I have just been told something to get me off the phone and nothing seems like is being done with my fault. I have been extrememly polite with each person I spoke to, so it cant be because I have been rude to any of them. It just seems that nothing is updated on their records and that they honestly dont know the progress of my fault.

The other problem is with the intergrated sim card. On Saturday when I logged the fault, I was told that I can collect an intergreatted sim card from a Telkom Direct Store, so that I can have access to the net while my line is being repaired. I was told that it will be a 2mb speed and an upcapped sim card. I ran around for 4 hours on Sunday, getting the required documents in order to collect the sim card. After going to the store on the Bluff, Durban, I was told that this information is correct but they cant help me and that I need to go to the branch in Pavillion, Durban. When I got there, I was told that the sim card is only 1gig, once off. I was very annoyed, but still extrememly polite.

I called the contact centre, to see which of the information that I received regarding the sim card was correct. I was then told that this intergratted sim card does not exist and Telkom does not do that. Calling a few more times, hoping that I will be able to speak to someone who can give me a definate answer, I was told that its only a 2 gig sim card, that they dont do it anymore and again that I must demand an uncapped sim card. No one seems to know what products they offer.

This week has been really annoying and to receive this kind of service from the biggest player in the market, is unacceptable. Its been a week with no internet and still I have no solid answers to the intergrated sim card and if a technician has reall been assigned to my fault or being out to repair.

I desperatly need access to the net at home for work. I have reached a wall with trying to get some sort of assistance from their call centre and dont know what to do.

Wayne Chetty

**********

**********
