International Roaming Rip-Off

After travelling to France and Italy in November 2017, I got an itemized bill for roaming costs. Telkom Mobile has charged me for data usage on my cell phone in Italy between R 120 and R187 per MB without notifying me of these prohibitive rates. In other words a Whats-app call cost me more than R 5000!!! After complaining about the rates and querying, my cell phone number was hard-locked in January 2018. It took at least 25 calls into the call center and multiple complaints to ICASA till I got the information that these data rates are legal. These communication prices are prohibitive for international business. As if we wouldn't have enough commercial crime!
