I app**** for a new line to my new home. The technician advised that he can't find the cable (apparently there was a line there before), so I have to get an electrician to look for the cable. If he doesn't find it the electrician has to put a conduit in from my neighbours house where the distribution box is to my house (its across the road). I would have thought that when buying service the service provider would install supply etc and give the full service from start to finish....but not with Telkom. You have to do half the work and then they do the rest apparently. I don't mind paying for the installation, but why inconvenience me by now having to find an electrician to lay cable which has nothing to do with electricity. This is ridiculous! Just because someone doesn't want to do a job. I have to pay them for a service but do everything myself. It like asking a diver to look at my plumbing. Or buying a cellphone contract from a company and having to assemble to phone myself. Telkom thinks they have a monopoly and that's why they think they can give inferior service. Service your customer from beginning to end !!!
