Infuriating Telkom - suspended my line

It has been so frustrating dealing with Telkom. I took a landline with Telkom in April/May of this year. 3 or 4 months later i noticed that Telkom were not debiting my account and my Telkom account balance was sitting at R1200 and i received a notification to say that my account would be suspended if i do not make payment.

I phoned in to Telkom to sort this issue out and the agent told me the debit order was not created so I thought to myself perhaps i did not instruct them to create it so i created the debit order over the phone.

The agent also told me that the amount for that month needed to be payed and the rest of the outstanding amount could be payed over time (No deadline was given at all!!). i set a maximum debit order limit of R350.

At the same time i made an online payment of R300 to Telkom after finding it very difficult to find the reference number to use. I found the reference number on a statement which is emailed to me monthly.

The R300 payment did not reflect on my account so i phoned in some time later to log a dispute and find out why the payment did not reflect. I spoke to an agent by the name of Roxanne Saalmans and emailed her my proof of payment on 07/10/2016 and logged a dispute.

Now on 22/11/2016 my acount has been suspended. i logged in to My Telkom and i see the dispute i logged has been rejected with the comment that the reference number used was incorrect. Before this i did not receive any communication at all to notify me that the dispute had been rejected.

i phoned in to the call centre again and the lady said she cannot see why the dispute was rejected and she would send an email for someone to contact me. I tried explaining that even though the dispute was rejected my account should not be suspended as the outstanding balance is not my fault. All she could tell me is that the account will only be reactivated once the outstanding balance of R730.68 is paid.

She then spoke to her supervisor and said that i can pay 40% of the amount now and the balance at the end of the month as if she is making a plan for me, but the account will only be re-activated once the entire amount is paid.

I also noticed (by myself) that the reason why my R300 payment did not go through is because i receive 2 statements from Telkom monthly, both with my name on it, with 2 different reference numbers. i only have 1 landline number with Telkom so why am i receiving 2 statements?? i obviously made payment using the reference number from the wrong statement but how was i supposed to know that?? nowhere on the website does it show where to find the reference number to use for what... if it does show it, it is very difficult to find
