My contract with Telkom ended 9 August 2017. I submitted a cancellation request 25 May 2017 to provide them with enough time to cancel my contract when the contractual term ends. I currently owe Telkom R5194 that they want to deduct on 26 March. Since I submitted my cancellation request I have returned each and every debit order that has gone off my account. With each debit order reversal I stop at the Telkom store at The Grove Mall in Pretoria to get assistance with the issue I have with them. Eventually the account was cancelled. No debit order was deducted at the end of January but end of February R4500 went off my account. I am told that even though the account has now been cancelled the billing department says I still owe Telkom that amount and with each debit order I return they add a penalty of R200 to my account. What I find so strange is that Telkom's cancellations department and billing department work independently from each other. No one realises that the fault lies with Telkom and not me. Now if I am still liable for the August 2017 premium I will gladly pay the contractual amount of R700 but not a cent more. No one at Telkom has even called me to advise what is happening or just ask WHY I keep returning their debit orders. I have even been told that they have suspended my service. Not once have a called Telkom to enquire about a suspended account since I have not used the account since August. Is there anyone at Telkom who can assist me to sort this out? Who will be paying my bank charges that I incur each month and when will I finally be rid of Telkom. Your service I have experienced in the last 10 months has been disgusting. Also when will you empower your agents at your walk in centres to do cancellations and do more than just call your contact centres?? That will eliminate so many of your admin issues!
