Inconsiderate billing Telkom
I recently changed my banking details from capitec to FNB in early March. On 22 March 2023 I visited Telkom Maponya Mall to seek advise as to whether I can pay in cash for the month of March seeing that I've changed banks so that the next debit can go off in the new account as I will close the debit order on the old one.
I was advised that seeing that my debit order date is close , I should have paid 10 days before my debit order date so it's best to leave money in my old bank account because Telkom will debit from the old bank out and should no funds be available I will be charged an extra R210.
Fine, come debit order date, I had left money in the capitec account although I had updated my banking details on their system. On the debit order date of 25 of March , telkom debits the new FNB account which has no funds as opposed to the old capitec account as advised.
I incurred additional charges with FNB due to non payment of debt, nevertheless I immediately transferred the capitec funds to cover the FNB account.
I relayed the story to their billings department and I was advised to send proof of my transactions so that I can query the additional 210 for non payment charge as it was added to my telkom account. I did that through ***, Ref is ***6, this was 29 March 2023. I followed up early April and mid April I was advised no one was assigned yet to my case.
I follow up again on 20 April with the billings department and I spoke to Sanke Zungu who advised that the case is usually resolved in 3 working days and that they have a backlog.
I asked why have I not been updated because it's 3 weeks now, she kept silent, I asked why is she silent she responded by saying I'm not listening to her so what do I expect her to do.
I was ill advised and I incurred bank charges as a result, I follow up and I met with rude responses.
Now I Paid FNB additional charges and telkom is still going to debit over 200.
Very inconsiderate and unprofessional.
