*********** service at Telkom store Umhlanga and Phoenix

I recently received a letter regarding my Telkom ADSL contract expiring and need to go into a store to collect a new modem.

Since I needed a modem due to the current one faulty, I went into the Phoenix Telkom store.

I was advised they have stock of modems, but was told its for another store, advised to then go to Gateway as they have stock available.

Went into the Gateway store, there was one agent on a working day able to assist a queue that built up to outside the store. Even though there were other agents, just one agent was able to do renewals. This wait was approximately, 25 to 30 minutes per person. I enetered the store at approximately 10.30 and left 12.10pm.

When I was eventually at the front of the queue, the agent completed the forms and advised I have to come back in 24 to 48 hours to collect the modem!

Firstly, why was I then redirected from Phoenix to plaza for no stock available of the modem?

Secondly, I could have then filled the same forms at the Phoenix branch even if they didnt have stock?

Thirdly, why is there stores with limited amount of staff that can help clients for specific needs on a normal working day.

This has left me a frustrated Telkom customer!

Reviewer Update

I revisited Gateway Telkom today, to query the status of my renewal as 24 hours has passed since the application.

The consultant advised there is NO RECORD of my application!!! There was also no attempt to explain what happened to my application, the response I received was a blunt 'I don't know!'.

How do Telkom consultants see this as acceptable?

It appears my application forms where lost from my last visit, especially after a two hour wait to complete those forms - simply ridiculous.
