Impossible to cancel a Telkom line

Dear HelloPeter Users

Please investigate alternative landline based companies. Without getting too deep and philosophical, I will say Telkom is a prime example of complacency and blame shift mentally that defines the identity of a large portion South African working force.

I comp**** on 4 October 2016, with all of the required protocols to cancel my landline. It resulted in me being issued with a receipt of cancellation request email. I assumed it was all sorted.

Until I got a bill in November. I phoned the call centre was greeted by a lady who informed me that my line had not been canceled. She then used the words escalate, management, respond, resolve and apology to patronize me. I forwarded the correspondence to her email, and followed up repeatedly. I was not even afforded a human decency of a reply. Pathetic!

Today my debit order for Telkom was subtracted from my account, for a service I cannot use. I contacted Telkom, surprise, on 02 December 2016 my landline service is still not canceled. What got to me though was the stroppy attitude of the lady helping. She just said she can't help me. It's a joke.

So I have given up, I have comp**** with every required process, defined by Telkom to cancel my landline. I have followed up repeatedly subsequently. I have begged phoned and complained. So now I will cancel the debit order at the bank, and Telkom can continue the service on their own.

The only point of writing this review is to advise anyone of using Telkom, rather don't. There are alternatives out there. Time to start investigating Neotel...

Another burning question, does Mr. Sipho Maseko, with his R 14,5 Million salary according to the media, have a Telkom landline. Because I can guarantee you one thing Mr. Maseko would not tolerate the trouble we as Telkom users are subjected to.
