Impossible to cancel a landline. Almost 4 months and still not cancelled

I was at the Telkom shop on 2 July 2017 to cancel my landline with effect 01/08/2017 since I've relocated to the western cape and does not need a landline anymore. They made me complete a form and took a copy of my ID. 14 July, I've still not received confirmation of the receipt and hence I've mailed the forms again to the address to be cancelled. On 25 July 2017, I called the Telkom cancelations department and was informed that they are working on the cancelation. From there, I have been to two different Telkom shops and couple of calls later, the only response I am getting is that they are working on the matter and its been escalated.

If you ask to talk to a manager or head of department, they seem to be protected species since no one can tell you who they are and neither can they transfer you to a manager or head of department.

I've also e-mailed the original request to cancel my landline a couple of times and also to individuals that said they would sort it out. And as always- to no avail.

Its now end of October and I am still no way closer to having the landline cancelled. I was not even in a house or close to a place where I could use this landline and yet I am getting billed every month.

Since I always paid via internet banking and not debit order, I am now getting accounts and sms's to say that I am in arrears on my account. this is reflecting bad on my credit record and wonder if Telkom will reimburse me for any financial implications this will hold for me in the future.

I am also in desperate need of getting hold of a head of department that will sort this matter out for me. Even the website does not give any other contact number other than the main number. Best of all is, they don't even have a complaint department or number that a person can contact.

I will never never ever ever do any form of business with Telkom again. I will rather go and deal with another company even if it will cost me more.

Telkom should be explaining on their business conduct to a court since they are effectively making debt on my behalf without my consent causing my credit record to be tarnished. What they are doing is certainly ******* and not fair to the man on the street.
