I'm Done with Telkom
I am literally crying out for help here because I'm just getting the run around and no one is taking responsibility while I'm forced to caught up 1000s of Rands for something I tried to best to avoid from day 1 because I've been through this before.
I took out e new phone in March this year on my already existing account and the consultant remind me to put my spend limit at at 0 to avoid being charges extra for data and calls and that's is exactly what I did just the next day.
On May the 15th I was charged R949.70 for a debit order that usually costs R450 per month. So when I called into the call Centre the consultant said 1) I missed my debit order date(which I didn't understand because I asked for it to be on the 15th) and (2) now the was a penalty plus extra charges because I overspent my limit, which again I didn't understand because I set it the day after I got the phone. But because I just didn't wanna go through this long unnecessary process I just asked the consultant to change both the debit order date and the spend limit. He ensured me that everything would be in order from that day.
Fast forward to July 15th, I get a debit order of R1314. I call in again to speak to a consultant called Tshiamo and she tell me:
1) My spend limit reverts back to "the default limit" if I put it at 0 and should be put at R1 at least. - Which was totally false I found out afterwards.
2) Spend limit is only temporary you do it via 180 (Self Help) but permanent if you adjusted on Telkom app. - Which was also false according to the contestant I spoke to via telephone and instore after her. 3) She will escalate queries and send email back to me. - Which was also a lie according to consultant number 2 (Siphiwe)
)Will adjust spend limit and debit order date. Which was never done according to instore consultant.
5) I have already exceeded my spend limit for July aswell, so I will be charged extra the following month. I checked my balance via *188# while on the phone with her and told her I still have mintus, she the double checked on her side and confirmed I do still have minutes so I couldn't already have exceeded my limit. Now my question is, if it's was reflecting wrong on telkom's side now who is to say it was reflecting correctly the previous times I have to pay for overspending.
I spoke to Siphiwe from the call Centre after her on the 19/07/2019 who basically told me everything thier girl had told me was a lie but I still owed R1314 although the debit order had already gone through. She broke down my debit to R675 + R450 = 1125 which was still less than what I was charged. Siphiwe told me:
- She doesn't pick up anything being escalated after she checked her emials - I was supposed to receive a reference number after the call on 15/07/2019. I did not. - I should speak to consultant at store level - My spend limit can be put at 0 or 1, it doesn't matter. - She never heard of spend limit reverting back and she's been working there for 5 years - Calls are recorded but can't be requested by consumers/customer, can be requested to listen to by a manager.
After that I went into the store(Telkom Promenade in Mitchells Plain)
The consultant who sold me the phone Peggy: maintained her story of 0 spend limit is correct and shouldn't be a problem.
I then dealt with another consultant who told me I have to pay R176 over spend limit for June and a 202 rejection fee, also my current Spend limit is still R500. So after I spoke to 3 different consultants one 3 different occasions(Including setting the spend limit myself a day after I got the phone) and not one of them actually did what I asked them to do and I'm the one being punished for Telkom's mistakes. I've had enough and I refuse to pay another cent until this matter is resolved and I am reimbursed in full.
