IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE AND HEALTH STAY AWAY FROM TELKOM
On or about the 27th or 28th of July 2021 I contacted Telkom to enquire about their Fibre deals. I explained to the lady that I currently had a LTE 120 Smart Broadband contract with Telkom, but that I would like to go over to Fibre if I could.
The lady on the phone asked me all my details, and Informed me that it was my lucky day and that they are running a special and that they could upgrade me to Fibre, and that I would get a free month as part of the promotion that they are running.
She helped me to upgrade to Fibre, explained everything to me and I was so impressed about this hassle free upgrade. I specifically asked her and made very sure about fees/payments etc. She explained to me that I would not be billed anything for the LTE for the end of August 2021 and that I would only start getting billed at the end if September for an amount of R730 which is for the Fibre. I asked her a few times if she was sure, and she said yes, gave me my reference number and so forth.
End of August came, and they deducted the LTE service from my bank account. (I even got a invoice for an amount to be paid for R0.00 at the end of August from Telkom.
I had to go to the bank to reverse the payment.
I contacted Telkom, they referred me to a manager, Zakhele Mashaba who emailed me while I was on the phone with the consultant to explain what happened. I emailed the manager on his request, explained the whole scenario from day 1 and he actually wrote back to me and phoned me on my mobile phone to tell me he will look into it personally and sort this out for me.
I was so thankful and thank him so nicely and even told him that he was the first person to actually get back to me. A few day later I received a case number: ***1 which I later found out was logged, but no information was provided under that case number. Long and short of the story, I was sent from point A to Z for three consecutive day again now, as they still did not cancel the LTE contract as they were supposed to at the end of July/or August when they activated my fibre, I was still billed for August (which was supposed to be a free month) and I spoke to probably 15-20 different people at Telkom who all of them refers me to the next person and my problem is still not solved.
Eventually yesterday I managed to get a lady to cancel the LTE contract, and even received an sms for the cancellation, but was again at the end of September billed for August and September again, penalised with a penalty fee and billed for the fibre as well to a total amount of R2 586.00 where I was only supposed to be billed for the R730 for the Fibre and R269 for my son's Telkom mobile service.
I have to go to the bank again to reverse this payment and then to a Telkom store to go and pay my son's mobile phone separately.
Two full months and no one at Telkom knows how to pass a credit note as it is apparently no one's job as they keep referring me to the other person, Two months That i have to drive to the bank to reverse a debit order that was not supposed to go off and the bank cannot stop it on their side as Telkom keeps changing their reference numbers. STAY AWAY FROM TELKOM, THEIR INCOMPETENCE IS ENOUGH TO GIVE ANYONE WHO IS HEALTHY A HEART ATTACT.
