Identity theft promotion
In 2018 I bought a sim card of telkom, And I have been enjoying the service and there data offers, I dont now much about other network providers but it seems to have the best offers specially on calls. Just few days ago network of telkom has been having some hiccups with data, I decide to swap my simcard with my daughter for a day cause where I was going I needed strong reliable coverage of data. Unfortunately my daughter misplaced my sim card and haven't found it since. I then took my ID and proof of residency to a nearest shop to fetch a replacement simcard. At the shop where I bought my sim they even advice me that I can perform a sim swap online using whatapp system. I was so excited, but was short lived excitement. Firstly the whatsapp system though it does work on other functions, sadly it does not support swim swap that mean, I have to visit telkom shop near. I them visited Green stone telkom which is close to my place. Thats where the night mare started, I was told that my sim card I have been owning for more 5 years is not registered under my name and I will have to loose my 6 year number, my contacts my work contacts, my banking profile number, my email address backup number, my car tracker number, literally all my contacts are gone just like that. if that person named that they registered my sim card with can go to them and make a sim swap and get to own my personal details from my banking to my social, literally they are promoting identity theft im so worried if that person gets hold of my Facebook page my client online what will happen I have all necessary evidence that I'm the legal user of the number but they claiming that they can not do anything to help me, this is so frustrating, and scary at the same time. Hope someone within Telkom will read how exposed I'm and will be willing to assist me
