In JUNE 2018 I began receiving a Telkom account for a MS Deirdre Press, Account number: ***/ Subscription and usage number ***. The accounts were being sent to my Municipal Address and not to my Street Address. Month after month I would return the unknown accounts to Telkom requesting that the address be corrected. After many phone calls, emails and visits to the Telkom shop L57 in Cape Gate Mall plus four letters to the Telkom billing department (two being registered) requesting that this matter be investigated by the Telkom ***** department I then followed up by obtaining a Police Affidavit in an attempt to bring closure. July 2019 the unknown accounts finally stopped arriving. I later received an email from Telkom informing me that my personal email address (which I had been using to complain to Telkom) had now been allocated to MS Deirdre Press. I emailed a reply to Telkom to correct their mistake and check the account details of MS Deidre Press. On the 9th December 2019 I visited the Telkom shop L57 Cape Gate Mall to request that my phone line be disconnected. I was informed that I would have to go on the Internet and request it myself, needless to say my patience had run out and a Telkom employee processed my request. On the 17th December 2019 I received a Telkom SMS reference number ***5 confirming that my request for line disconnection could take up to two months and that I was responsible for the account. On December 31st 2019 I received an SMS from Telkom informing me that my line cancellation was being processed. On the 7th January 2020 I received an SMS from Telkom with a different reference number ***A with a question mark (?) this was followed almost immediately by a further SMS from Telkom advising me that my reference number ***5 was restored (not disconnected ?) I then went back to Telkom shop L57 in Cape Gate Mall to inquire what was happening and was informed that the unknown account for my Municipal Address 14, Kudu Way, Kraaifontein 7570 was still active (even though the Telkom postal accounts for MS Deirdre Press had stopped arriving at my Municipal Address) I think Telkom employee Cameron Meyer summed up my situation when he said, (and I quote) "Anyone can open a Telkom account, you do not need an ID." Regarding the use of my address by someone else (and again I quote him) "There is nothing you can do about it." To Summorize For the past thirty six years my Municipal address has been 14, Kudu Way, Zoo Park, Kraaifontein, 7570. (I have Municipal Accounts to prove it) For the past thirty six years my Street address has been 4, Lions Way, Zoo Park, Kraaifontein, 7570. (I have documentation to prove it) My landline number is *** (I have Telkom accounts to prove it) I have been a Telkom customer for thirty six years. I have checked with the Kraaifontein Municipality and there is no record of MS Deirdre Press. For the past eighteen months I have tried over and over again to resolve this issue with Telkom. I have been told by a Telkom employee that my queries cannot be addressed. I have been ignored by the Telkom Billing Department. I have had no response whatsoever from the Telkom ***** Department. Regarding MS Deirdre Press Telkom Account Number ***/ Subscription and Usage number ***. This person appears to be uncontactable by Telkom. I can only assume that MS Deirdre Press (who is unknown to me) requires a valid street address for whatever activity she is involved in. As I have tried patiently to resolve this issue with Telkom for the past eighteen months the only conclusion that I am left with is either Telkom Staff are incredibly inefficient or one must consider the fact that Telkom address corrections and line cancellations are being deliberately blocked to supply identity theft to ********* who need a valid street address to operate.
