I found out i was place on a new package without my consent basically i am being coerced into this new contract or package
I took out a contract with Telkom last year February 2021 the ADSL uncap wifi. Been paying my monthly premium of R 199 this was a promotion that they were running at the time I took out the contract.
Fast forward in January 2022 i received a call from one of telkom's consultants it was a lady cant remember her name. She informed me there were people at my place to install fibre. I told her no my ADSL was install last year, she told me no this just to upgrade the network. I said oh okay. That was her only explanation.
I received my invoice on the 24 February 2022 to my surprise it went from R199 to R599. I called them on the 26 February at 08:36 i spoke to Khaniysa the call got cut. I called again 08:39 this time I spoke to Andile. I explained to him that there is an error on my bill, my bill is now R599 instead of R199. He logged a dispute or call for the for the charges to be reverse he gave me a ref no. I asked him they should send me a revised invoice so that i can see that the charges have been reversed. Days went by i just received an email to say the dispute have been resolute.
I called again on the 5 March 2022 at 08:49 I spoke to Zoliswa to which he said the charges have been reversed it is now R 508 this is still the in correct amount. He said i should call Sales department, to which i did call spoke to Toni. Between Toni or Zoliswa i cant recall who told me i have been placed on a new package.
I have been placed on a new package or contract without my consent, there was no communication or notification that Telkom have send me to say anything about the new package. I have never called or went into one of the Telkom store to ask for a new package. This is a package I cannot afford. Basically Telkom is coercing me into this contract. I have been sent back and forth between the billing department and sales department. Today 10 March 2022 i called again to see if the issue have been resolved at 12:43 i spoke to Bongiinkosi to which i explained my situation again. I am starting to sound like a broken record at this point. I told her i cannot afford this amount and will not pay this amount and this will affect the rest of my debit orders and it will reflect bad on me. And I have never missed a payment and I told her they are put cost on me which I can't afford. She also referred me to the sales department, I spoke to Thabisile to which she couldnt assist me. I spoke to Bhengu at 13:10 and asked her she should double check for me on which package I am on. Because the last time I checked I was on the ADSL package and she said i am on the fibre package. I asked to be put on my previous package. To this she said i can't be put on that package as they are doing away with the ADSL line the copper line. To which i said I want to cancel my contract because I cannot afford the monthly premium. she asked did i not receive notifications i told her no. She referred me to the cancelation department.
I called the cancellation department at 13:18 I spoke to Sandile. I explain to him I am cancelling my contract because I was put on a new contract or package without my consent and it is a package I cannot afford. I asked if I am going to pay a cancellation fee because i am not willing to pay that either. As they are the reason as to why I am cancelling my contract putting me on a package I cannot afford and not obtaining my consent for this new package. He said I will not pay a cancellation fee i should call the cancellation department as they will send a final account (at this point I do not know how many cancellation departments Telkom have cause i thought i am at the cancellation department). He gave me the 10213 number option 1 then option 5 He attempted to assist me. Called this number 10213 at 13:38 the voice over just told me to login into the Telkom portal and cancel it from there.
Note: I have had my ADSL package for year being paying R 199 every month have not missed or skipped a month.
