How to terminate a home landline successfully

I have been trying for weeks to give notice on my home landline to no avail. Been twice to Telkom office - told it can only be done "On line" I have tried very many times. It states an email will be sent to me with a once off password which is valid for 3 minutes. NO EMAIL RECEIVED.
