How diificult is it for Telkom to cancel a mobile data contract?
My 89 year old mother took out a Telkom mobile data contract for R99 more than 2 years ago. In March this year, she took ill and although she has recovered, she decided she does not need to go online as I can assist her instead.
On 11 November 2017, we went to the Northgate Telkom shop and filled out a "Consumer Request for Contract and Service Cancellation". Come the end of November, the debit order still deducted R99 from her account, and it continued in December.
We revisited Telkom at Northgate in January, were told that a case had been opened, and when the agent phoned through, was told it had been closed. I am not allowed to query on my mother's behalf when I phone 081 180, and my mother refuses to phone this number as it chewed up R70 of her air time.
We have since visited the same agency two more times, and we were again debited R99 at the end of March. The very same agent shrugged her shoulders, and said I should go to hellpeter for any action!!!
Will I get a response from Telkom?
