HOW CAN I BE CHARGED EVERY MONTH FOR A SUSPENDED SERVICE. ANY HELP

I am not to sure how i can be charged for a service that is suspended. I lost my job in In May and cannot afford to continue with my contract. I have been trying to cancel the contract but it wont allow me to. I am told i have to settle the balance which is over R3000 now. I do not know how you want me to do this as i am unemployed. But now you charge me every month for my suspended service. How can i pay for something i am not using. I will gladly settle the amount i owe for the month i used your service without payment but i will not pay for the months that my account was suspended for as i found this unreasonable to say the least. I would like to cancel and the make payment arrangements with you for the amount outstanding as well as the cancellation fees but no one seems to want to help. I have not chosen to be unemployed the company closed down due to lock-down. Can you imagine how much i will owe you at the end of my contract WITHOUT ACTUALLY USING YOUR SERVICE DUE TO MY ACCOUNT BEING SUSPENDED. that is insane..
