Horrible service when making a cancellation

In March of this year (2016) we closed down one of our businesses. I admit that I failed to notify Telkom of this and I ended up paying for the line rental and all attached services for three months that I was not using it. On the 8th of June I made my way into my local Telkom branch, which as we all know is a mission in and of itself. After standing in the queue for nearly an hour, I was told that they can not process a cancellation in store, and that I should send a written cancellation request and a copy of the account holder's ID to ********** to have my cancellation processed. I immediately went to the office, typed out a letter and sent everything off as needed.

One week went by, then two, then three with no communication from Telkom's side. Next thing I know, a month has gone by and lo and behold I was sent an account. After doing some very tedious digging around on the internet I found another e-mail address used for cancellations ********** and I decided to try that one. Thankfully I got a reply that same day, saying that I would be contacted within 21 days by a service consultant to verify the information that was sent.

Once again three weeks went by, and there was no communication from any "service" consultant, and I received yet another account with two month's worth of arrears that were due. Again, this was not for any calls that were made, only for the line rental and attached ADSL connection. I got on the phone with the call centre, and again waited almost an hour to be "helped." I was told that the cancellation is on the system but that nothing had yet been processed. The lady was very helpful and told me that she would place an enquiry as to why there was no progress made on the cancellation and also a request to have the R2139.44 credited to my account.

One week, two weeks, and then a phone call! I almost couldn't believe it! A "service" consultant had phoned me and asked if I was cancelling my line and service altogether, whether or not it was me who initiated the cancellation, the reason behind the cancellation, everything that one would expect to be asked. I was so happy to finally have things moving along! But that feeling didn't last... Once again on the 22nd of September I received another account from Telkom, now saying that I am owing them R3014.85 due to interest on the overdue account.

I am tired of spending hours on the phone and in queues to no avail. They are very quick to help when signing new contracts, or adding on products to existing contracts, but when it comes to their so-called "customer service," they couldn't be any slower.
