Horrible Customer Service by "Store Manager"
I visited the Mall of the South store to re-load data on my prepaid sim card as the data had expired yesterday. The immediate interaction with the person behind the counter was that of abrasiveness and a clear unwillingness to help. I will not refer to him as a gentleman as his behaviour was far from that. He had finished assisting a customer before me and then gestured that I was next by raising his eyebrows. When I approached the counter and informed him that I wanted to load data he cut me off in the middle of my sentence and says "You want to what? I can't hear you" he did not bother to stand up from his chair or show any interest in assisting me. So I repeated myself and I handed him my drivers license as this is how I load data every month because I do not know the number of the sim card. He immediately refused to assist me saying that he needs a mobile number. Even after I had told him that HE assisted me last month with the same transaction, he insisted that if he did he would have told me that he is not allowed to use my ID number in future. This was definitely not true and just last week I used my ID number at your The Glen store to check my data usage. And every month before this is how I was assisted with no issue. This person was extremely rude and kept laughing and smiling smugly while refusing to assist me in an obvious attempt to humiliate me in front of other customers. I asked to speak to the store manager and was appalled when he said that he was the manager. He wrote his name down on a piece of paper and told me that I was welcome to log a complaint. He wrote Justice Mapupu on the paper. While I was getting the number another customer walked in and addressed him as Sibusiso. I asked him what was his name and he laughed at me and then took back the paper and wrote Sibusiso on it. He was speaking to the lady next to him about me in a language I did not understand and when I asked him what he had said, he asked me if he is not allowed to speak to his colleague. When I asked him for the details of the Regional manager he also refused and said that he was not going to give me any information.
I cannot believe that you employ a person with such a lack of customer centricity as a store manager! He is immature and highly unprofessional. He did not answer any of my questions professionally but resorted to arguing with me and trying to humiliate me. He displays no interest in customer service and I am shocked that this person is responsible for the store. What kind of example does his behaviour display for the staff that report to him then? It's no surprise that people avoid this store unless they really have to visit it.
The fact that he kept inviting me to lay a complaint is clear that he is aware of the appalling service that the store renders and he is certain that nothing will be done about it. This is not my first visit to this store and I have had many bad experiences here and know of instances where friends and family have experienced the same.
I am not accepting the way I was treated this morning and this is what causes you to lose customers. We do not have to be subjected to humiliation when purchasing a service.
I expect:
1. A response to why my ID number cannot be used to pick up the mobile number on my system and why this manner was allowed previously
2. A written apology from your so called store manager for his clear intention to humiliate me in front of other customers by refusing to assist me and for his immature behaviour
3. A response regarding the appalling service at the Mall of the South store and what is being done about it.
