********** service from Dispassionate, Apathetic Zombie like staff members who are experts at creating problems they cannot solve!

Telkom staff please put your grey matter to use and solve my problem?

A few weeks ago my dad received a call from a Telkom representative. The purpose of the call was to inform him that they are delivering a new wireless handset. Instead of delivering the new handset to number 36 a bright spark delivered it to number 35 on the opposite side and a few homes away.

When I called home May the 19th the phone was answered by someone employed at this person’s home. Of course I immediately thought that I had made an error and redialled. This time the home owner answered and stated that she had just received a new phone from Telkom. She wanted to know how we managed to get this phone, as she was clearly very impressed with her new instrument/toy. Only problem is she is now using a number which we have used for many years and my dad is being billed at her expense. She told me to sort the problem out with Telkom. That’s where my nightmare started.

I literally spoke to 13 different people at Telkom. The last of which was Ilopine who confidently stated that he does not disclose his surname to just anyone. No one wants to take accountability or transfer me to a Manager, and everyone seems half asleep or barely conscious. You cannot obtain reference numbers and the staff members are reluctant to give their surnames. I wonder why??? Perhaps it’s because if I contact ICASA they will require all the details. It is evident that there is no Quality Assurance Department, because if people knew that someone was actually listening to their calls they would not act like such dispassionate, apathetic zombies.

My dad even went to Telkom at Southgate on two different occasions and they promised to call me to no avail. Phindile called me two days ago and said that she can see the line is in use and provided me with my dad’s details. Duh! Thank you for the information. Very enlightening, but I knew that thank you. Phindile further suggested that we change our number. Do you seriously call that service by placing someone at a disadvantage for an error your colleagues caused? Not only that you are placing a ***** at an advantage because when my brother called from Cape Town today the very same person answered again. The problem is that someone else is using a phone with a sim card connected to my dad’s account number and line. So while the recipients of the “Fixed line look alike” are enjoying their new toy, my dad is being billed and Telkom staff are unable to clear up their mess! You have the audacity to call their service World Class. What a sense of humour! A round of applause to you Telkom.

My dad is an 80 year old heart failure patient. A landline is crucial for very obvious and practical reasons. He is not exactly hooked to his cellphone all the time, which would actually have been ideal so that we would be spared the wasted energy, effort and frustration of dealing with a Nightmare clown show. I urge Mr Sipho Maseko to light a spark under some dead beat behinds. Now that will be what I call World Class.

If all else fails I’m afraid my only other option is to capture a few beauties from the Serpent family, and to release them at Telkom like someone did at a bank in Johannesburg CBD a few years ago. Not very authentic but I bet it will be very effective. If you fail to respond with a constructive solution and guaranteed action within 48 hours I will post this on every available social network, and share our story with the media who simply love sensationalism.
