Having to buy airtime and data despite paying for contract

A few months ago I visited Telkom store to switch mobile service providers whilst keeping my current number. I was sold a pay as you go card to which they ported my number from my previous service provider. Then I was told to buy a second sim with a contract which they would transfer to the card with my preferred number. This has not yet happened. So for months now I have been paying for a contract I cannot use and also having to buy both airtime and data. This despite multiple visits to the store. No idea how to get this resolved.
