Gross misrepresentation
On 19 January 2022 i contacted telkom to request an upgrade on my telkom mobile contract. I asked the agent tlolane if the Samsung A52 5g was available on contract. He assured me he had one device left: the Samsung A 52 5g with 6 gb ram blue in colour. I accepted the contract insisting that the device had to be of the 5g variant. In fact i asked repeatedly and he confirmed every time that it is in fact the Samsung A52 5g. Even when i did a follow up the next day I again asked if the device is 5g enabled on which the second agent confirmed and found it humorous that a note was made that I would insist on the 5g version. On 24 January 2022 the couriers delivered a device. When I opened the package I discovered that the device was 4g with 4gb ram. The phone was blue though. I went to the telkom store in Kimberley to return the device. The agent in the store said they cant take the phone as I didnt take out the contract with them. I called Telkom sales and they arranged the device to be picked up provided the telkom store send an email with this instruction. I still have the phone in its packaging as the store claims they cant keep it and I will have to engage with the couriers personally. I don't know what is going to happen now because it seems telkom can do as they please. I am considering laying ***** charges against the company if this contract is not dissolved by month end because I refuse to be obligated to pay a contract and keep a phone that's been misrepresented.
