From Fast to Slow :-(

I upgraded my home internet network middle of January. The upgrade was from 2mbps to 10mbps. Until this I had reliable internet connection, just that when everyone is home and on the wi-fi network, it seemed like the network is slow however it was reliable (a bit slow but no break in connection).

I was told that the contract I signed up for was a limited time special, and it would improve my internet connectivity at home. Included with this “Special” was a modem and an extender, which was supposed to be a better modem than the one I already have.

Since the upgrade of the internet speed, the network is unreliable and much slower. When I watch videos on YouTube, the videos get stuck while playing so they can load (I guess that’s buffering)… and when they have loaded the picture is still fuzzy. The horrible internet connection obviously affects the wifi as well. When I use my phone or any of my mobile devices, the network is so bad that I have to wait for Facebook updates to load (I mean really now, that can’t be right). I end up switching off the wifi setting and go back to using my phone's data… Which is exactly what I didn’t want when I signed up for internet in the house.

Moreover the modem and extender that was supposed to be part of the deal, I still haven’t received. When I go to the store to ask for it because I think perhaps the problem is this modem I currently have, I’m told that they haven’t received the modems yet. When I ask when they think they will get them, I’m simply told that they don’t know. So I don’t know if I’ll still be sitting here without a modem in 24 months time.

Isn’t a contract supposed to be a two way relationship? I pay and you provide the service? I’m paying and yet I’m not receiving the promised service!

And by the way, can your technicians not surprise people? If I can afford to sign a contract with you it means I have a day job. So if you don’t call people and set an appointment, how do you expect to assist us when people are not at home?

You guys are inconsiderate and you need to change your ways and please provide the service as per the contract. If you can't please cancel the contract and give me my money bac****!!!!!!!

YOUR SERVICE SUCKS BIG TIME, and you still want our money!!!

You guys are just messing around with me. When I first complained, it was clear that speed was slow. Telkom sent out a technician, who came twice. The first time they had not called to check if I am home. And the second time they came he said my network is slow because I have too many things connected to the router. Telkom then billed me for those both trips because they were supposedly not necessary. Yet the technician who contacted me here, when we did the test it was clear the network is much less than it should be. He did something on his side and it improved a bit. I must say it was more pleasant dealing with him because he seemed to genuinely be helping me.

Now I didn't agree with Telkom billing me for those two visits, but because I didn't pay for it they suspended my line. So I ended up paying for those visits. Now they reconnected my line and the network is at an incredible snail pace.

Now I am afraid of complaing because they will make me pay for those, yet at the same time I'm not getting the service I'm paying for.

I would also like to add that after submitting the review here, a modem was delivered within a span of about two to three weeks yet have gone so many times to the store asking for it. I appreciate that you sent it, I really do. However, I still don't have the connector which was part of the deal when I signed up for this contract.

I need to know if this is normal and I also need to be advised how many devices I'm supposed to connect so as not to interrupt the network speed...

Please Help Me...

I meant to say I still haven't received the extender.
