********** Telkom
I recently had a issue with Telkom and Platinum repair. They refused to assist me and I'm therefore posting this to warn new customers to stay away from Telkom. I know they have good deals and are cheap, but you will definately regret opening a contract with them. Please use any other service provider except for Telkom. As they are Government funded it's impossible to damage their reputation and that makes them untouchable for the general consumer.
Please see my email below to Telkom and PLatinum Repair and their repsonse:
This is unacceptable and ****************. In what type of country do we live that Telkom will give me a tampered-on laptop as a new laptop and I have to take the beating. 1. This laptop did not come in a acer box, but instead in a Telkom box, which mean that there was something suspicious going on. I thought it was standard as I never done business with Telkom before. 2. Only now after 1 year and 11 months I spoke to a IT company telephonically to assist with a quote on upgrading the hard drive to a solid drive. They asked me to look at the back of the laptop to look at the specs and also to see if the hard drive have a separate compartment/cover and I only then saw that the ***** was missing as this was the first time it caught my eye. 3. I inspected the cover closely and found the hair fine crack near the 2.5 jack. The IT company told me that they are sceptical to work on the laptop since the ***** is missing and there is a crack that at the 2.5 jack port and they can possibly break the cover and that I must contact Telkom. 4. This laptop has never been in for repairs and have always been in my care and never had a ***** driver close to it since It was delivered to me from Telkom. 5. I immediately went to Telkom The Grove as it's almost impossible to get hold of Telkom telephonically. The Grove branch advised me to go to the Menlyn branch. At the Menlyn branch I was assisted by the technician and George Mfeka the Menlyn manager. 6. The only thing that I complained about was that I never saw that my laptop was tampered on and I wanted to know why. The Laptop can possibly be in a 100% mint condition hardware and software wise, though I only questioned the missing ***** and the crack. Why would I stand in a cue for an hour, wait at Telkom for two hours while being assisted, knowing that I will lose my warranty, (which I already thought expired) and show them the missing ***** and crack in the casing?? Look at the attached photo in HD. 99% of people will not see the missing ***** and will only see the crack on investigation after realising that the crew is missing. Have you ever asked me why? You guys are refusing me service but you haven't even asked why I'm asking to claim from the warranty? All I ask is that you open the laptop and investigate whether the hardware is the exact same as the originally spec. If it is I will upgrade the hard drive to a solid state on my own accord as the laptop is too slow in my opinion.
