********** contract opened in my name
I am a victim of identity *****. Consequently, a contract was opened in my name at Telkom. The first debit order amounting to R5000. 95 went through on the 20th of April 2018. I notified Telkom of the event on the 23rd of April and submitted a certified copy of my ID and an affidavit. I also reversed and blocked the debit order. My bank notified me that I could only block or suspend the debit order for a maximum of 3 months. Only Telkom had the power to stop this debit order permanently. On the 28th of April... Yet another debit order amounting to R5002. 95 was processed on my account.....with a different reference. I reversed it using my bank App. Unfortunately the reversal was ubsuccessful, but I was unaware. I received an sms on the 10th of May 2018, from Telkom to say my case HAS BEEN Resolved. I thought this was the end of it. On the 15th of June 2018, ANOTHER debit order was processed on my account amounting to R2000.00... With different reference to the first 2. On the 18th of June, another debit order amounting to R2 209. 72 was processed on my account. I reversed these debit orders on the 21st of June 2018. Everytime I have reversed debit orders I have been charged by my bank. This is clearly an inside job.....why do the reference numbers keep changing. And how are new contracts being opened if my ID number has been flagged on their system???????
I went to Telkom mall of africa branch on the 15th of June 2018 to notify them of my mishappenings and inquire why the issue has not been resolved. The response was that my case was submitted to the WRONG Department. It has been 2 months now! My credit score has been negatively affeced to the extent that standard bank has rejected my home loan application... Which was submitted around March-April 2018. I am ready to resort to the law, and I will claim legal damages from Telkom, as well as my R5002.95 that I failed to reverse, WITH INTEREST, as well as bank charges I have paid to reverse debit orders. Should my credit score not be rectified and should I lose my deposit on my apartment, I will hold Telkom responsible on the grounds of causation.
