********** CONTRACT

<p>Late June 2015, a ********** contract was opened in my name. I only found out about it via Transunion when I requested my credit report. I immediately called Telkom and since january have not recieved a response. Instead, they have the audacity to send debt collectors after me with regards to the contract.</p> <p>I reached out via twitter on the 29th of December, and then via email in January and sent an email ********** and got a response to send my docs, after which I recieved no more responses (Ref SM206748). I called and communicated with N. Zungu and resent the docs on Feb 28/29 using the same reference number to what seems to be her work email, not to any specific department that specifically deals with such things.. </p> <p> </p> <p>To my surprise I recieved a call from Debt In and I explained to them what's happening and forwarded my documents. This was in July already, the 22nd to be exact. The lady I spoke to had the decency to contact me and tell me that they themselves are still waiting for telkom to investigate, ref no TM7461. It's disappointing how such a big company can be de*****ed so easily and take zero responsibility. This whole saga has ruined my credit history/standing and as is, I cannot even obtain any credit be it car finance or a home loan, NOTHING. Because Telkom has gone and listed ME with the ITC for THEIR mistake.</p> <p> </p> <p>The fact that I've never lost an ID book or anything of thet sort, yet someone can open a contract and recieve a phone and use it in MY name without them even suspecting anything is off is beyond me. It just means our personal info isnt safe and we are clearly wrong to trust service providers. And im curious about how easy it is to open a contract without a green ID book to verify identity!</p>
