Telkom had a Black Friday special of 2 x Samsung A33 phones, plus Flexon 2 contracts on each for a combined total of R 389 a month x 24. It turned out to be too good to be true.

The contract could not be finalised at the local Longbeach Telkom Service branch because the phones hadn't arrived, but they would be coming within the week. They would phone me to let me know when I could collect the phones and complete the paper work.

The phones did not arrive that week, but not to worry Telkom would let me know when they did. I kept checking. Apologies. There is a national shortage. (Yet other companies were advertising the same phones, and Telkom continued to advertise the phone on its website.)

Today, nearly 2 months since I tried to sign the contract and take the deal, I received a phone call from the Noordhoek branch. Telkom has decided to s**** the deal because they don't want to keep their customers waiting any longer! Would I be interested in another double phone deal albeit more expensive than the Black Friday deal?

I didn't shoot the messenger, but why would I consider taking another more expensive contract with a company that reneged on their original deal??

Sad that a company can get away with what amounts to ********** advertising.

Sad that integrity is no longer a core value in South African society.
