********** account opened in my name whilst in hospital giving birth

The only thingI have ever got form Telkom is a 5GB wifi ****le costing me R99 a month...but I gave birth to my son on March 2, whilst I was still in hospital someone got hold of my details and got themselves a fancy new Iphone 7 and ran up data charges in one month to the tune of R2200. I didnt receive any documentation from Telkom until May 2 when I got an email saying that my data fees had been increased to R2000. Incensed I called the call centre and was told that this was for my Iphone!!?? I informed them that I had not ever signed up for an Iphone... and this is where my ********** dealings with a pathetic company start....

Xolani Makhuba told me that he would suspend the account and stop the phone being used and assured me that the money would not be debited from my account. I was on maternity leave and receiving UIF only and implored him to be aware of this and that I could not be debited for the funds that were not for my account. They were! I called him again and expressed my outrage . I sent him proof that the money had gone out of my account and he promised it would be returned. It wasn't. I asked him to send me the details of where the account was opened so I could lay a charge of *****. He didnt. I asked to speak to a manager. Couldn't put me through. At this stage I had been billed R5.5k for a phone I did not have and had not signed up for. I was at my wits end adn broke! So I went to the SAPS and laid a charge against Telkom for *****. I went to a local Telkom shop in PMB and was told that the account had been opened in Sandton City Consumer Express Store on the 9th March. I was released from hospital after an emergency caeserean section on the 6th March... so according to Telkom I managed to get up to Sandton and open an account 3 days after being release from hospital and with a 6 day old baby.....whatever!!!

An employee called Gertrude Machindza opened the account for this ********* at 1.08pm on the 9th March but could not send me any contract copy to verify signatures - apparently they dont store these online in Sandton. I find this to be utter nonesense and just another lie from Telkom.

I am still waiting for the promised email from Xolani Makhuba for details any details of when the phone was collected. The best response I had was instore by a telkom employee in PMB who todl me that "this happens all the time"Are you kidding me??!!!

To date, nothing, I repeat NOTHING has been resolved from Telkom. I still get billed for the iphone 7 and the promises that their ***** department are working on the case are utter *******. I find their customer service deplorable and their attitude morally reprehensible. Telkom simply do not care that crimes are committed and helpless victims bear the brunt of this. Their protocols in store for ID verification are pathetic and when the grave error is highlighted, absolutely NO action is taken. Telkom, you make me sic**** I would give you negative ratings if I could

So Telkom get back to me and ask for my ID - I provide this as well as an affidavit as well as the charge sheet from when I went to the police. I attach my bank details where the money has been taken out of my account and I ask to cancel my legitimate Wi-Fi 5gb ****le. Nothing happens. months go by and nothing happens. Then I get an email saying the case is closed! I think - great - no more nonsense. Then today I receive an email saying I need to pay the entire amount that was debited to me (during the time this ***** took place whereby someone else had a phone in my name) back to Telkom...its R20 000!! What is going on at Telkom?? Can they not do their jobs correctly?
