********** account details with Telkom

My name is Nontokozo Gwala from Pretoria North. My case dates back in 2014/15 where someone stole my identity and opened accounts and Telkom was one of the shops. I got a notification through credit checks that there was an account open with telkom for landlines and I personally called the shop to stop the transaction and they promised that it was sorted. The following day the credit check notified me that the lines has been issued under my name. It was clear to me that it was an inside job and the case was closed and eventually I had to blacklist my own identity number to avoid such transactions in future.

I hated Telkom with a passion for years no matter the deals. It was in 2018/19 where I decided to give Telkom the benefit of the doubt thinking that things would have changed. I app**** for the first line and it was a success and I went for the second line it was successful. I was told that for the second line there is no need for documentation that I submitted the first time, the lines will be in the same account and be debited in the same account. The agent made it seem easy and she was very friendly printed every thing for me to sign with a speed of the lightning. I didn't have the time to check the contract but signed based on what she advised and the speed and friendliness became a factor. December 2019 my second line got blocked. I called Telkom they told me that they failed to debit my account, OK How? I asked. I was in the village that time and in January 2020 I drove back and on the 27th I went to the shop where I bought the phone to find out. I was told the same story and the agent called out what was regarded as my account details, I got a shock of my life that it was someone else account, not mine. I am not sure whether the ********** account was not deleted and she used that account, I am not sure just speculating. He then printed an invoice of R1400 and said as soon as you pay the outstanding amount and called the call center they will open your line. He asked me for my correct banking details for the February debit and I gave him. After payment on Friday ( 31 January 2020) I then decided to call the call center based on the advice that it takes 48 hours to open the line. The agent Senamile picks up the call and tells me the total opposite story. She tells me that the line is canceled for ever and if I need this line I must apply again, oh really?. Now we are having an argument because she doesn't believe my story above everything she is saying bring the proof of what you are saying". I got so angry that she thinks I am making the story up or I did this crime and brought the FNB statement myself. Senamile also said in February I must wait for the statement of the gadget. I am not sure whether she understood that this affects my credit scores if I fail to honor my credit account. I don't know whether she understood that the calls I was missing they mean no employment from my side. I then requested to speak to her supervisor because clearly she has no intentions of helping me. The supervisor by the name of Sandile brings an attitude of another level I am telling you. He told me that I must drive to the shop where I bought the phone to sort out this mass. That time I am 30 km away from the shop in Hartfield. While speaking to him I dressed up and drove to the nearest shop and just before I could reach the shop he dropped my call. I entered the shop in wonderpark mall and explained everything to the agent who explained that what I am asking to get my line activated its not a store issue but billing belongs to the call Centre. I called Sandile again myself after dropping me and he **** and said I was on hold and I said he must talk to the store agent. I was hearing the store agent saying, please do not give me your attitude because it doesn't help the client, we are not fighting and do on. Before the phone was given back to me, the store agent requested the case reference number for me and Sandile refused. Then the line was given back to me and he said he has escalated the matter and he was going to call back. As I am writing now I have not received and call from Sandile and I doubt he has intentions of doing that. I then handed the store agent the paperwork I was given by telkom when I got the phone and realized that the contract was made by Gontsha ( order number ***). The paper work was actually a proof of the transaction.

To Telkom, please treat us right because if the account had money it means someone was going to pay for my phone not knowing, that on its own its *****.

Again the attitude is not what we sign up for, we need service and for the agents to own up to their mistakes and help to resolve the problems without us going up and down Spending time and money. A simple apology sometimes its all we need

Telkom please activate my line because I have paid your arrears and gave you my correct account details on the 27th. If that is not acceptable, please cancel all the lines I have with you so that I can move on to another network because obviously you don't value me as a client. Regards NN GWALA
