***** on Telkom SIM and staff incompetence to assist

I was struggling since March 2018 with my Telkom account, which suddenly spiked from. I complained via Hello Peter on the 4th of July 2018. I received a reply on my review from Telkom on the 12th July 2018, with an undertaking that I would be contacted.

I am still waiting for Telkom to contact me. My issue has since escalated since then, and I find myself utterly exposed and unprotected against the incompetence of Telkom and it's staff.

Since reporting the issue, I have incurred expenses of R1771.45 + R1425.25. It is clear that somebody has **********ly started to use my SIM.

On the 26th July 2018, I phoned Telkom's Call Centre numerous times to urgently request that my SIM be blacklisted, and that the usage be investigated. Your staff refused and I incurred additional cost due to unauthorised spend. You are clearly not concerned about the safety of your customer's accounts.

Who is it in anyways possible that somebody can spend/order prepaid bundles and airtime on a contract sim, when the contract expired in October 2016?

Only on the 27th July 2018 I could stop the unauthorised use of my SIM when I did a forced simswap at Telkom in Somerset Mall. Why did nobody at the Call Centre give me this option, and why was Telkom unwilling to blacklist the sim, even after I provider them with a police affidavit?

I can not afford to pay the expenses incurred by somebody that stole my sim, and managed to spend, without even having the pin. Telkom did nothing to assist me in stopping the ******* spend. Their refusal to blacklist the SIM, which was the proper action to take, cost me a lot of money.

I did some investigation on my own and managed to identify the people that *******ly used my SIM. On the 30th July 2018 after numerous failed attempts to contact the Telkom Call Centre, I managed to log a ***** case. I presented Telkom with all the evidence showing that my SIM was being *******ly used. The case number is : ********** 2.

Yet, I still received a bill from Telkom for July 2018 of R1425.25. I am not happy with the fact that I had to do a simswap to stop the ********** activity. The correct action from Telkom would have been to immediately blacklist the sim, and reverse all the usage/orders.

Since October 2016, the only cost I ever incurred on this sim was a service fee of R37. I have no need for databundles as we have uncapped ADSL at home.

Telkom, I excpect you to investigate the ***** committed on my SIM. I further expect that you pay back all the cost I incurred as your incompetence was a major contributor to the costs I incurred.

I have the same issue you are dealing with. I am in the process of taking my complaint to ICASA. In my case, somebody was spending on my SIM. I even managed to track down the culprits and Telkom even have the IMEI number. What I don't understand is how people can spend without the necessary PIN number or other details. Isn't that why accounts and SIMS must be RICA's and FICA's. There is some serious breach in process and security at Telkom.
