Forever to cancel service
Good day,
I am very disappointed in Telkom as a service provider and their low standard of processes, systems and communication.
A year a go I formally gave Telkom notice of my service cancellation(land line) via a cancellation form which I was told would take 30 days. After 30 days I would get an new invoice for services rendered, which I actually cancelled. I would try to explain to Telkom Accounts that there was no active services that I was utilizing at that time and that I have canceled the service. I was informed that the service was not cancelled and that I should follow up at one of Telkom's walk-in shops, which I did, three times. All three times I was asked to mail my application of service cancellation to the consultant, which I again did. Nothing was done until October 2017.
Every month since my services cancellation, I was invoiced for a service that I was not using. I then got a phone call that I would be handed over to debt collectors as I did not pay my account. I tried to explain that the services was cancelled. Nevertheless, I received emails stating that legal action will be taking against me for non-payment. I have asked this person to phone me so that I can explain to her the situation, which she did. I even asked that we continue to go legal with this, just to get finality . (Using the legal system to get a service cancelled) She said that she would communicate this back to Telkom.
A month after that, in December 2017, I received a call from a gentleman from Telkom which apologized for the misunderstanding and confirmed that the balance will be cleared and that I should have a zero balance.
I app**** for a cellphone contract, Thursday, 18 January 2018, and my application was turned down as I am negatively rated with the credit bureau , for something that was not my fault.
I now have to endure the inconvenience of trying to clean my name at the bureau and feel utterly humiliated with my application for credit.
Very disappointed in a company of this size/magnitude, not having proper systems, processes and communications to avoid leaving potential future clients out in the cold like this. It is clear, that Telkom does not care about their clients or their client's business at all.
I will seek legal advice/action on this matter if I cannot successfully acquire credit now or in the future because of Telkom's negligence/poor service in this regard.
Kind regards, Jaco Fourie
