Forced to pay triple

I have had to pay for an account after services were suspended but because I could not pay my account on time before and I learnt my lesson from that as I had to pay even for months that I was not getting service because my account had been suspended.

So this time when I was laid off in November, I went into the Midrand Branch after receiving a letter with an amount due of Total R1,338.33 in the post. I went to inform them that I was retrenched and they should suspend/de-activate my account so I do not continue accruing charges when I am not receiving services, till I can afford to resume services. Now I make a call to say I am now working, how much is outstanding so I can resume services, they tell me +R4000.00 when i personally went in to tell them to de-activate. I dont have a problem paying interests accumulated on the R1 338.33 up to date but forcing me to pay > R4000 when i had no services throught is against even the Consumer Protection Act.

I have been asking for this to be escalated as I have been exchanging emails with someone who tells me the persons they can escalate to is in training. Someone at Telkom, please respond
