FORCED ADSL MIGRATION

Last October or November, I was called by a Telkom sales rep and was offered an "upgrade" to the new wireless system and package. I said NO because I work from home and I need stable, reliable internet which is what I had before with the normal ADSL system and landline service. I was also on a month to month package without a contract as I have been a loyal Telkom customer for the last 7 years and had no issue with what I had.

The next thing I knew my line was disconnected, and a technician was dispatched to install my new service. Unaware of what was really going on at the time, everyone I subsequently spoke to informed me that this was the direction Telkom was moving due to copper cable theft, which I understood and left it as it appeared that I had no choice in the matter. I have had constant problems with this new internet service, unable to work properly but I have still been paying for it as I need it for work and thought I had no other services available in my area. Upon calling Telkom sales this morning to see what new Internet services are available in my area as I cannot continue to work with this bad internet connectivity, a sales rep by the name of Cindy actually ascertained that I was forcefully migrated from ADSL to mobile wireless internet and was also put on a brand new 24 month contract last October by some sales rep which I did not agree to. After constantly being informed that ADSL was no longer available in my area , she confirmed that it is in actual fact still available in my area as Fibre and 5G are not offered here. She also informed me that I have to go to a Telkom shop to reapply to get my ADSL back.

Now, this goes against my rights and the South African Consumer Protection Act as I have ********ly been put onto a package and brand new 24 month contract which I did not agree to. I would like the telephone recording to be pulled up, investigated as to why I was put on this system and I would like my ADSL service to be reinstated. I do not understand why it is my responsibility now to go to a Telkom store to reapply for ADSL and why I have been locked into a new contract? I would also like to be compensated for the last year of endless problems and intermittent connectivity I have received with this wireless internet which has affected my earnings. I was not informed about any capping after going over a certain data limit either, which affects speed which I did not have on my ADSL system. I am absolutely livid and disgusted with the amount of lies and being cheated by Telkom and I want a resolution to this asap. It is unacceptable and *******.
