Fix your business

1) 5 Months ago I tool a cellphone contract with Telkom, the service offered when they were “closing the sale” was splendid, from application till the point I received the phone. I would actually give them 5 star rating for that part.

At the time I had recently bought a house, meaning I moved into a new area. I realized there was little to zero network coverage. If I am at the parking lot, the network seems fine, however if I am in the house the network drops.

I reported the issue in July, Telkom was kind enough to log a request and send a technician on site to inspect. The technician tested the network and managed to prove my point, he advised Telkom will sort the issue shortly and that was the last time I ever heard from Telkom with regards to this.

I have been calling Telkom ever since to get closure on this matter however it has proven to be unsuccessful to this day. Every time I call, the consultant tells me “the matter will be escalated and someone will call me back”, for months I have received the same response. I pay my account on time all the time but I am not getting the service I was promised. Why should I own a smartphone if I am only going to get EDGE coverage? I am lucky to get LTE at any point. I have to be on Roaming all the time and I feel my DATA is getting finished much quicker (I could be wrong).

2) When I bought the phone I asked for insurance, it was a pain to get the phone insured because either;

i) The Telkom store consultant couldn’t do it.

ii) The Telkom store consultant didn’t know the process so they referred me to Finrite call centre

iii) I decided to go to a different store and they told me to go back to the store of purchase.

None the less, I managed to get the phone insured and I was given a 1 page document/invoice as proof that the phone is insured (That’s all I was issued with, no T’s & C’s document issued to me as Telkom store doesn’t have the system). I had an instance where I lost my phone and the claim process was smooth.

Recently I dropped my phone and the screen cracked, booking the phone in for repairs was not so smooth. My new phone details were not updated on the system so the store consultant couldn’t pick up the new IMEI number, the repair terms & conditions were not provided, I was also not made aware of the claim limit stating that I can only claim 3 times annually etc.

Today when I went to the store to get status update, I was made aware I need to pay R1200.00 access for a screen repair but was asked R700 to replace a phone (Please explain how that works). When I asked for my phone back because I am do not have that amount of money I was then asked for a cancellation fee of R188.10 of which I was also not made aware of when I booked my phone in for repairs.

I am really not happy with your customer service. Due to your product offerings I have referred my partner and some of my friends to Telkom.

What good are your products if they don’t come with good service? I feel as if Telkom is only interested in getting people to buy their products and not the aftermath.
