Fibre still suspended days after arrears paid in full – no response from Telkom

I run my business from home and depend on my Telkom fibre connection. My service was suspended when my *** fell into arrears. Telkom acted quickly to cut me off, but it has shown no urgency in reconnecting me now that I have paid.

On 23 and 26 October 2026 I paid Telkom a total of R1,400.00. That is more than the overdue balance of R1,156.99 shown on my invoice dated 18 October 2026. The rest of my October charges are only due on 9 November. There is no reason for my service to still be suspended, yet it is. I sent proof of payment and escalated the matter in writing, and the service has still not been restored. Every day without internet costs my business money.

This is not my only frustration. I have asked Telkom several times to add my second name to my statement, and those requests have been ignored.

Our gated estate has a single Telkom contact responsible for reconnections. He does not reply to residents' WhatsApp messages, even though he is clearly active and viewing our messages and status updates. One unresponsive person serving an entire estate community is not an acceptable level of service from a company of Telkom's size.

I am asking Telkom to:

Reconnect my service immediately. Credit my account for the days I have been without service since my payment was made. Update my statement with my full name, as I have requested. Give our estate a contact who actually responds.

If this is not resolved promptly, I will take my complaint to ICASA.
