I received a text message in Dec-19 informing me that my Fibre (WiFi) contract was cancelled as per my request (to make things clear I never requested my contract to be cancelled!!!!) I went into a Telkom branch where the consultant told me that my account was in arrears and that I had to pay the outstanding amount to get the line re-instated and that it would take around 48 hours for the re-instatement. I immediately went to a Pick-n-Pay store and paid the full outstanding amount (did I mention that the outstanding amount was in actual fact not money that was outstanding???) After the 48 hour waiting period I contacted Telkom Customer Care to find out why the line was not re-instated as promised just to be informed that I cancelled my contract (did I mention that I never requested my contract to be cancelled!!!!???) After long discussions with numerous people I eventually found someone who could explain to me what happened (Simphiwe Nxumalo - I have to compliment him on his efficiency). Apparently Telkom never cancelled my ADSL line when we switched over to the fibre line and I was paying both lines for almost a year. When I stopped paying the ADSL line in Oct-19 Telkom then (in their wisdom) decided to cancel my ADSL line as well as my VumaTel line in Dec-19. (Please note that we use the Wi-Fi for business purposes so we have been loading data onto our phones since December - it becomes quite costly after a while) I have been struggling ever since to get my line re-connected, but to no avail. After many attempts in getting this resolved I was eventually told (just before Christmas) that I will have to apply for a new line (based on the previous contract) and that the amount paid will be transferred to the new line - I am still waiting. I am being penalized for Telkom's incorrect decision to cancel both lines (I want to say incompetence, but that's a bit of a harsh word to use as I have always had very good service from Telkom). So... here I am.... still waiting....
