07 Jul 2025, 22:02Subject: Telkom’s Ongoing Unfair Billing and Unauthorised Charges
I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the poor service I have received from Telkom. When I initially took a Telkom SIM card, a debit order was created using an old bank account number that had been closed back in 2020. The consultant assisting me filled in that account without confirming with me. As a result, Telkom kept attempting deductions from the wrong account, which led to multiple failed payments and I was charged R200 for those failed attempts.
Over time, I was charged over R2000 — and to this day, I don’t even know what that amount was for. Despite the confusion and lack of clarity, I paid that amount in order to move on.
Later, I discovered that Telkom increased my usage limits without my knowledge or consent. They told me I was on an “open plan” — something I was never informed about or agreed to. I canceled the debit order because I prefer to pay manually, yet Telkom refused and continues to charge my account as they wish.
On the 30th of June, I paid R1300 in cash. Later that same night, Telkom double charged me with an additional R497. Now, just a few days later, on the 7th of July, I have received a new invoice for R1570. How is it possible to accumulate such charges in just six days?
I have repeatedly asked for these issues to be corrected and all unauthorised changes to be reversed, but nothing has been done. Telkom continues to operate without accountability or respect for its customers. This is financial abuse. We are not working for Telkom — we have families to support, and this kind of service is unacceptable.
I am beyond fed up. I feel ****** daily by Telkom and I am tired of being treated unfairly.
