Fed Up with Telkom
So I am back again with another complaint, because the things you guys do is really unacceptable in my view. We have an outage in our area which isn't your fault but how well prepared for it you guys are for it, is your fault. The outage has been going on for over a week now but I am told there will be no service untill around the end of the month (I am writing this on the 3 of the month). In that time I have called the call center and each time I call I get a completely different response. I was First told the fault would be resolved in 48 hours and after that 48 hours I should call the call center again if the service is not back up again. When I do call, I am told that the person I spoke to must have made a mistake because there is no way the fault could have been resolved in 48 hours and the agent proceeded to tell me that the fault would be resolved after the 22nd of the month. When I asked what I can do in the meantime I was told I could get a SIM card from a Telkom Store, that I wouldn't have to pay for, to use a portion of the data available on my ADSL package. I Went to the store and I was tolld no such SIM card exists and I am told that my only option is to buy a prepaid SIM card and load data onto it and use that in the meantime. The real joke here Is that the person at the store say I should pay my account even though I don't have any service, Because if I don't pay it, it will be cut off. They also tell me to call the Telkom billing department once the service is back online to tell them that I haven't had any service and ask then to credit my account. In what world (other than yours) does that make sense? I pay for a service I am not getting and know for sure I will not get for a month, and then once the service is back online I should call your billing department and tell them I had no service due to and outage you told me about? Why should I go through all that admin, on your behalf? Why can't your technical department communicate with your billing department on outages (I know they can because when people don't pay ,you guys cut their service off ). Why do you not have a plan in place to allow customers to continue to use (at least a limited version ) a service should a fault arise. I get no joy from your call center because everyone seems to work for a different Telkom including the people in the store and you make customers lives difficultfor no good reason. I have had it with you guys.
