Farcical Billing Situation Created by Telkom

Telkom changed its billing from snail mail to email without advising us. It sent the bills to a non-existent address and the emails bounced. No-one thought to follow up by actually phoning the analogue line no. No bills, no payment. Two billing cycles later I realised this and tried to get the billings back on track. Here's what happened. The billings dept wanted my expired passport no (expired in 2002) before they would do anything. I refused as my old passport is (perhaps) in a box in the garage. My current pasport no is useless as it doesn't agree with their records. They would not accept an I/D no - which I've had since 2002. They refused to correct the incorrect email address or tell me what the amounts outstanding were. Truely, the lunatics have taken over the asylum. It's Telkom's fault that this situation has occurred in the first place. The Telkom service dept came to the rescue and I managed to get the the email address corrected and a promise to ensure the missing bills would be sent. They also gave out the outstanding amounts which I've paid against. However, no supporting bills have arrived and I tried again with an intractable billing dept to ensure these bills are sent out. Again, same old story. Not an ounce of common sense from their operators. This is truely shocking and no-one in billing seems to understand that I'm trying to help them. All of this simply removes any desire to use Telkom in the future. I'm sorry, but I have a zero tolerance for institutionalised stupidity.
