False Billing, bad service

I recently cancelled my Samsung tablet contract with Telkom in compliance with the 30 day notice period as stipulated in their contract. I was issued a case number. The contract is a R298pm. Telkom did not cancel this contract, and billed me R700 for this out of contract (month to month) period. This is not something I had budgeted for as I cancelled in compliance with their notice period. Upon contacting a consultant I was told that the cancellations department tried calling me ONCE and because I did not answer, they closed the call as unable to reach me and carried on billing me. Don’t you think this is bad service? If I was looking to purchase a new contract or upgrade my current one, would you call me once and if I did not answer, would you not care about my business? Further, I comp**** will the stipulated process regarding cancellations, if it is not working you need to re-look at your processes. What do I do now? If I refuse to pay this, based on it being not my fault, I will be blacklisted. Another example of how these companies get away with trampling over a customer. I emailed the cancellations department for feedback and till now - no response. Will Telkom pull me another month just so they can squeeze me out of another R700?
