False Advertising, Empty Promises

17 January 2018 asked the sales consultant in Trade Route Mall if the LIT TV box was available (free to the first 5000 customers) to which she confirmed this after returning 10 minutes later. I than proceeded to apply for the January "The Big Deal" and was told installation takes between 7 to 21 days (double checked and was informed it was not working days), secondly I was informed that my area could receive 10 mbps (No reference provided). 1st of February 2018 called the branch (011) ********** ) and it was routed to the call centre. Kabelo at 15:25 requested I visit a Telkom Direct branch to collect the equipment. At 18:20 the same day I visited the store in Mall of the South and was told that they could not dispatch as their system was off line. The gentlemen who assisted requested I come back the next day before 15:00. I enquired as one works as to why I should come before that time as the store is open until 19:00, no answer provided. He than informed me that the LIT TV Box was not available as they had received communicaton on 16 January from the head office, this infuriated me as I double checked prior to applying. Secondly I was told that Trade Route Mall could dispatch the items. 3 February I visited the consultant who filled out my application and informed her of my experience, she responded by saying that there branch only received communication on 19 January 2018, 2 days after my application. She requested I visit Southgate, Mall of the South or the Glen. 4 February 2018 at 11:00 spoke to Nozipho at South Gate who indicated that she could not dispatch the equipment, the system reflected that a technician needed to test the speed in my area. (Reference ********** 44 and order number 71918-43. To-date there is no progress

The acknowledgement is noted. Further frustration is that I suspect my information from the applicaton was leaked because I received a call from a company called T Connect who claimed to of been a sub contractor to Telkom. The person indicated that they would change my line to ensure network stability and the cost would be reduced to R560 from R599. He than insisted I provide him with my ID number, email address and banking details. I than cut the call only for him to call back two days later insisting that I provide the information as he needed to verify it. I rudely told him I had filled it on the application and will not be confirming any information. Getting back to the installation a technician, Goddard from Open Serve came to my home on Monday, 19 February without any equipment. He left and returned with the router only but could not install the point as he did not have a drill bit. He left and never returned. Wednesday, 21 February 2018 I received an sms requesting "how likely would I recommend Telkom to a friend" My response "0" and provided a reason, meaning that the job card was closed by the technician and to make matters worst I am told by the call centre that I have been charged for a new line installation (the promotion indicated that the price included installation. This is really frustrating and totally unacceptable. I will await a response from the fulfillment team.
