Failure to transfer line leads to a year long battle with Telkom

What a let-down Telkom's service has been this past year! When we sold our house, transfer documents for our Telkom line into the name of the new owner were done. Somehow the process was bungled by Telkom and the line was never removed from my name, although, mysteriously, the new owner was receiving accounts in her name and making payments on it. During the course of the year I was handed over to the MBDCS for non-payment. The new owner of the house sorted this out by making a overpayment of about R4000 into the line to try and clear up the confusion. Unfortunately this didn't help and I was once again handed over to the MBDCS later in the year. Numerous phone calls were met with promises that a supervisor would contact me...to no avail. I was never contacted. Eventually an assistant at Tygervalley Telkom lodged a dispute on my behalf. After numerous emails to Mr Abulele Mbie of the CEO's ofice, to which he failed to respond, I today phoned to be told that the dispute was rejected. Their service is appalling. This entire year has been due to Telkom's failure to transfer the line. After being hounded continuously by the MBDCS, I have now paid the mysterious "outstanding" amount of R758,96 in an effort to clear my name.

A complaint to Telkom via their Facebook page has been met by apologies for my inconvenience but no further action and no resolution.

I will certainly never be using any Telkom service again. You can speak to numerous agents but there is no follow-through and no resolution. Next time around you just speak to another person and have to start all over again. It is an extremely frustrating process. Good riddance to Telkom.

Got a call from Telkom today to inform me that they would like to come out to my house (which I haven't lived in for a year) to check the site for the laying of fibre optic cables, to which I had to inform them that 1. I am no longer a customer of Telkom 2. I have not lived there for a year now 3. The house has recently been gutted and is in the process of being rebuilt 4. The line was cancelled ages ago. I welcomed them, however, to take a drive out there and meet with...well...no one since there is no one living there..hahaha, Telkom continues to prove their cluelessness. You go, Telkom. :D

So after paying the amount of R758,96 as stipulated by Telkom, and sending the proof of payment through to their national customer care office, I today received yet another call from the MBDCS demanding even MORE money from me. Apparently the amount stipulated by Telkom was INCORRECT since I did not pay it before 15 October. The MBDCS is now hot under the collar and demanding payment from me.
This after I sent proof of payment and requested that the Telkom national customer care office instruct the MBDCS that I was no longer "in arrears" on a line that should have been transferred on 11 Dec 2015, and erroneously (on Telkom's part) never was. Lovely.
Frustratingly, Telkom's only response to complaints and queries by me, on this site as well as in every other format, is "we apologise for any inconvenience caused". This remains meaningless as long as the situation is not cleared up.
