Failure to cancel a month-to-month contract
A few years ago I bought an LTE router and I signed up for a month-to-month LTE contract. I decided recently to cancel the contract and went into the Cresta branch on Sep 30 to give notice. I noticed that as of last month my account continued to debited for the LTE service.
I followed up with via the text line I was informed that the service hadn't been cancelled because according to their records I had signed a 24 month contract. I followed up my query in-store and they confirmed that according to Telkom's records I have signed a 24 month contract, I requested a copy of the contract I signed and to date no one has been able to produce one.
The in-store consultant confirmed that it sounded like Telkom had made a mistake and that I should contact the accounts department. Unfortunately technical difficulties in-store prevented me from logging my query.
Later on Saturday I received a call from the accounts department, the consultant agreed that a mistake had been made and referred me to the sales department. The sale consultant asked me why I had contacted the accounts department and asked me what procedure I had followed to cancel my contract, frustrated I ended the call. I fail to see how that is relevant because no-one has disputed that I followed the correct procedure and I could care less about what the correct department is to cancel my a service. I expect trained customer service consultants to refer me to the right department. I do not to have to explain an irrelevant answer to a sarcastic sales consultant about which department is responsible for canceling a contract that I didn't sign.
Telkom seem's happy to take my money without supporting documentation and appear to be in no way committed rectifying their own administrative error.
