Everyone watch out!!!! ....Getting charged for line speed that you NEVER asked for...*******!!!!!

About 10 years ago I signed up with telkom on one of their packages. I told them that I had an ISP, but still got charged their ISP charge as well. I then called them in 2 ********** and asked them why I was getting charged the ISP fee. They then removed the ISP fee and I confirmed that I was only on a 2mb speed from my ISP. It must have been noted, because the ISP fee was removed,.....BUT....They somehow have been charging me for a 10mb line... and never got a refund for TELKOMs ISP fees either...

Telkom will only give refunds going back a maximum of 5 years. So a 10mb line speed costs R425 per month... A 2mb line speed costs R165 per month.... That is a difference of R260 PER MONTH!!!!

If you calculate that going back the 5 year maximum that they say, it works out to R15,600 that TELKOM OWES ME!!!!

I then told TELKOM this and laid a dispute with them. They have now come back to me with the answer...

....YOU BETTER SIT DOWN FOR THIS!!!!

I was told that I would not get a refund beacuse even though I was on a 2mb speed from my ISP, TELKOM HAD BEEN CHARGING ME FOR A 10mb BECAUSE I HAD THE ABILITY TO GO TO 10mb SPEED IF I WANTED.... WHICH I NEVER WANTED, BUT HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR!!!!!

So this means that because now the ISP's have the capability of going to 100mb speed, that they could now charged me for 100mb speed if they wanted to, because I have the abilty to get 100mb speed from my ISP, even though I may only need 2mb speed!!!

When I spoke to TELKOM earlier today (about 4 times), the lady on the otherside agreed that NO-ONE SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR A SERVICE OR SPEED THAT THEY ARE NOT USING!!!! I have this call recorded and will publicly play it if necessary.

Not only that, but even though they now know that I am only on 2mb speed, I cannot change it down from 10mb to 2mb with them until I pay R1,659.

So now I must pay R1,659 (which includes 2 months of them knowing that I am only using 2mb, not 10mb) in order to change it to a 2mb speed, while also telling me that I have the capability to get 10mb speed for the last 5 years, so my refund is not a valid dispute.

IF YOU HAVE ADSL, AND YOU ARE USING A DIFFERENT ISP THAN TELKOM....EVERYONE WATCH OUT FOR THIS ****...YOU ARE PROBABLY GETTING **********!!!!

Check what speed you are paying for from your ISP....THEN GET HOLD OF TELKOM AND MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVEN'T GOT YOU ON A FASTER SPEED ADSL LINE COST.... In other words...MAKE SURE YOUR SPEED MATCHES WITH TELKOM AND YOUR ISP!!!

I actually think this is blatant theft, and was told by one of the staff in the Rosebank branch of TELKOM in March that I am NOT the only one!!!

I have to now pay the R1,659, as TELKOM have now handed me over.

I don't think I should have to pay anything, as TELKOM can go back in my ADSL stats history and see that I have only ever used a maximum of 2mb speed.

If, by any miracle, TELKOM refund me for them OVER CHARGING for YEARS!!!!, Then I will post a full thank you on this website (and the other websites), as a refund is the only way ANY 1st World Service Industry Company would sort out their mistake!!!

TELKOM LISTEN!!!!.... REFUND ME WHAT YOU OWE ME !!!!

YOU HAVE UNTIL THURSDAY THE 13th OF APRIL TO RESPOND TO MY REQUEST.

My present TELKOM dispute Ref No. placed today is ********** 4.

What a joke!!!

I don't think that the different departments in TELKOM even talk to each other!

I posted the above message and got a response from Launa on the TELKOM Social Media Team. (Fantastic lady, and probably the nicest person to talk to about TELKOM problems)

She said to me that I would be getting a refund from getting overcharged for my DSL for a number of years.

I got a REF NO. AI ********** , meaning an action had been taken by TELKOM.

I was told that I would be refunded just over R6000 from when they changed the DSL speed in Nov 2011, and after debiting what I owed (R1659) that I would be in credit of about R4500 with Telkom and could get this transferred back to my bank account.

When I spoke to TELKOM on Friday, and spoke to Tendelani, to transfer MY MONEY, I was told that there was no credit on my account of R4500, and in fact I still owed them R364.46!!!

What is the problem here??? Why can't I just get what is MINE!!!!

They also charged me 2 reconnection fee's at R226.27 each.....WHY!!!

Launa.... Please could you call me back with regards to this issue.

You obviously have all the information we spoke about on the phone...Please could you tell TELKOM to PAY BACK THE MONEY THAT IS OWED!!!!

TELKOM!!!!...Please have this rectified by Friday 5th May!!!
