Don't use Telkom
Where do I even start… I tried to assist my grandmother with cancelling her landline and ADSL in December 2021 due to the fact that we upgraded to fibre. I had no reply on the email I sent in December 2021, so then I went into the store to cancel. I was told that the account holder had to be present. The only problem was that my gran had just come out of hospital at that time and was struggling to walk. I explained the situation to the guy that was assisting me, but he insisted the account holder had to be present (even though I had all the necessary documents with me). We had to wait until January 2022 until my grandmother was strong enough to leave the house, in order to go into the store. She did all that was requested of her, including fingerprints. Jump to 4 months later… we get a message from Telkom stating we owe over R3000.00 on services that we requested be cancelled in January 2022. My Gran got notified via SMS and this almost put her right back in hospital, due to the shock and stress. Since then, I have sent close to 10 emails, I’ve been in the store 5 times and spoken to various departments numerous times (from my cell phone – Pay as you go). This has cost me over R200 in airtime and R300.00 in petrol and not mentioning, time lost at work, only for the matter to be sorted out in June 2022. Wait, not so easy. Of course it’s not done. Friday the 3rd of June 4 days before the landline and ADSL issue was sorted out, our fibre line can’t connect to the internet. First, I was told it was a technical issue, then I was told that it was part of the “landline and ADSL” issue and finally we find out that the problem is that the line is in an “abused status”. There was no reason for the account to be in an “abused status”, as nothing has changed. The same people use it in the same manner as it has been used since we first got the line in December 2021. Now suddenly there is an issue. Thank you to Phakama Mbalo for finally sorting the issue out. Telkom really needs more employees like you. But my question is, why is it so difficult to sort out issues at Telkom? Why must it cost us, the consumers, a lot of money before the issue is resolved? Why must we pay for Telkom’s mistakes? How is it ok that you as a company can put a 69-year-old lady through all of this stress? That’s not fair. Sort out your freaken systems! Be more considerate of the people who decided to use your services! When the fibre contract is up, I’m cancelling the fibre line as well. I’m sick and tired of dealing with all the nonsense from Telkom. I will never recommend your company to anyone I know.
