Don't ever use Telkom!

On the 21/07/2019 at about 13:00 I got a new Samsung galaxy A50 form the Telkom Richards bay boardwalk branch. This was the worst idea ever. I was assisted by winny, ( this on the 12/07/2019 when I app****) who was just to happy to sell the contract to me. But when I asked if they will keep one for me when they receive stock she said no as her co workers might sell it. I was a little taken back but she told me she would send a message when the phone arrives. I never received a message so I went in myself to pick up the cell. I was told that I have 7 days to return the phone if there was any issues this was on the 21 August at about 13:00 . The days passed and the cell’s battery started running out extremely fast in one day even after being charged full. My wife is not allowed her cell on her so the phone in her locker with no apps running( she knows how the change the settings on the phone to so that data isn’t consumed in the background as well as how to close all the apps ) even after all this its still would be dead when at 9 at night. We took the phone back on the 27 of August. Winny refused to take the phone back as she said we were outside the 7 days. And that the count down started on the 21 and included it as a full day! What bull, this was never explained on pick up. She went on stating that the Samsung galaxy a 50 battery is bad and that the Huawei p 30 is better . But that phones battery capacity is 3500mah and the Samsung galaxy A50 is at 4000 mAh and pulled the spec up on gsmarena.com web site. Then winny just ignored and said the Huawei p30 is still better with battery life ignoring the facts that i showed stating that they use other site when I pointed to the facts. she went and pulled up a set of three phones the Samsung galaxy a50 and other Huawei phones that i cant recall the model but the battery capacity was 3500 mAh and 3750 mAh . Guess what site gsmarena.com .Not knowing what to say, she just repeated that the Huawei p 30 is better with battery. At some point she called the manager that was also trying the tell me that i was outside of the 7 days. Not getting anywhere i asked for both winny and the managers name. Suddenly the story changed (not giving me their names my wife got winnys name later) and the manager said she will have it looked at by the technicians and they will decide if the phone needs replacing, but they (boardwalk Telkom)wont replace the phone as I'm out of the 7 days but they will make an exception for me. But i cant send the phone in if i don’t have everything and the pin was missing for removing the sim i was told by winny, just the damn pin cause of that. So i drove home and got the pin and came back. And had the phone submitted. Winny said it would not take as long as usual as its not a repair just an analysis to see if something is wrong.

I followed up with them so may times i lost count. The first time i went in i was given a piece of paper that said that there is nothing wrong with the phone and it would be sent back soon. I kept following up. Every time they said that its on its way by the courier. Today i went in again and found out that the phone was never sent back as the technician stats that the process is to replace the phone I repeat the process is to replace the phone. Winny said no the manager has to decide what should happen. So first its up the techs then they say no it should be replaced then Winny says no its up to the manager. So Telkom boardwalk branch lies to me time and time again not even honouring there own agreements between them and the clients. I still don’t have a phone and payments are about to go off my account for something i cant use. This exact story will be sent the the national consumer act. National credit bureau the Telkom’s complaints and the boardwalk store. If I ever get the cell i will do the same battery test that gsmarena.com did on there site to gauge and post it on YouTube and share the link for the video in the comment section. Here is the link to the page to the gsm page that i will be doing. https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a50-review-1921p3.php I will also include this statement and will share this on every media platform I can find!
