Do not trust Telkom and Sell Direct Marketing
Dear all,
I would like to inform you about Telkom Mobile and Sell Direct Marketing. Stay Away. On the 21/06/2018 my one contract was due for an upgrade. I went to the Telkom store and did my upgrade (Samsung S8) and everything was fine. Roughly a week or two, I get a call from sell direct marketing telling me that my contract is due for upgrade. I Told the lady on the phone, you are mistaken, I already upgraded. She responded in saying that if my phone was not due for upgrade, she would not be able to see it on the system. I asked her if it was the 076 number or my 081 number. She said it was my 081 number. I told her that this number is due for upgrade next year. She then said she will confirm with Telkom and get back to me. 2days later, I get a call from the lady and she said she has an email from Telkom and my phone is due for upgrade. I said, if that is the case, and I don’t have to pay an early upgrade penalty or anything, let’s do it. I chose the Samsung S9, before I could think about asking for a color, she started reading the terms and conditions and just like that, the conversation ended. And 7days later, I got a pink Samsung s9.
Too my surprise, on the 5th of August, I receive my invoice from Telkom for R15,205.83 due For September. This is what they did. They upgraded my 076 Number again, but this time, they upgraded it from a 1gig package to the freeme 20gig package which costs R1199.00 a month. They charged me for the full cost of the Samsung S8, and the device subscription fee of the new device. I immediately phone sell direct and told them that they have made a huge mistake, I told them to fetch the device and make everything go back to normal the way it was. Sell direct did and investigation, listened to the recordings (Because its there for your protection) and called me back, said they will sort it out. They sent the courier and collected the device and told me that by the time my debit order goes off, it will be the correct amount. September, Telkom Debits my account for a Flat rate of R10 000.00. this is not what my contracts cost. I pay at most R2000.00 a month on my contracts and when I reversed the debit order, I phoned Telkom, I told them about the situation and the lady says that she doesn’t see anything about this on my Profile, she said she sent an email to sell direct and will wait for them to confirm that they have the device and she will try sort it out.
My Accounts Got Suspended On Thursday 04/10/2018. I phoned sell direct again. I repeated myself to a different person again, and again they said they will sort it out. I cannot make calls on my phone and my phone is a big part of my business. I am losing money daily because I have to use an alternative sim card just so I can phone people, but no new clients can phone me. It has been over 2 months trying to get this sorted, so I go into a Telkom store today 11/10/2018, and to my surprise, the lady at the desk said that no complaints or queries have been logged for my case, this means that Telkom and Sell Direct have Done nothing to my account before today. And today I have successfully logged a complaint that will probably only be looked at next year this time. Sell Direct said they sent an email to Telkom on the 5th of September and it was never answered, they said they sent that same email today. It will probably not be answered again. Telkom Case Number ********** 1 for those who think that this might be a lie. So I say this to you all. Do not upgrade over the phone with SELL DIRECT MARKETING, and if a mistake is made on your account with TELKOM, IT WILL NOT GET SORTED OUT. Rather go to the guys that have been around for a good long time like Vodacom, or Mtn, they might be Expensive, but at least they will help you when you have an issue. My Father has been with Vodacom since the stone age, and problems get dealt with quick and swiftly.
