Do not subscribe to Telkom Internet!

Writing this review on behalf of the account holder. Telkom recently offered the opportunity to migrate from copperline (ADSL) to wireless (LTE) in the Chatsworth (KZN) area, having provided a free LTE/Fibre router to go with the "new" smart voice 24 month package.

The LTE service supposedly operates at 10mbps, which is actually worse than the 4mbps ADLS line previously held.

Upon checking with Telkom (call centre and a direct store), it was stated that the 10mbps line is the "fastest speed" available within the service location/area and the account holder is unable to move back to an ADSL line.

Currently, the account holder is basically paying for a service that cannot be enjoyed at convenience as often the service is slow to non-existent at peak hours.

The account holder visited a Telkom direct store and was advised that a technician will be in contact to come assess the line speed and only if the fault is Telkoms will the account holder be able to cancel the service (which I reiterate is 90% of the time non-existent).

It is sad that whilst the fault is Telkoms, as its possible the migration from copper lines to wireless saw the infrastructure unable to contain the number of subscribers, yet Telkom is unable to assist nor reduce the absorbent charges account holders have to pay.

Fibre is also not available in the Chatsworth area!

As a Telkom Mobile subscriber, I endure the same internet connection issues as residential LTE subscribers and cannot wait for my contract to end at the end of August 2020 to change networks.
